Too Early for a 2013 Fantasy Football Mock Draft? Nope. 3 Round PPR Summary

Well it's that time of year again and believe it or not mock drafts are in full swing for the 2013 Fantasy Football season. I'm still not quite sure what convinced me that this was a good idea but I figured what the heck lets see what 2013 has in store. So I got in contact with the Taz man +FantasyTaz  and I filled his final spot of a slow MOCK Draft at +MyFantasyLeague  he calls "Draft Master 27". So I signed in and luckily I got the 8th pick in a 12 team draft. YES!!!  Wait a minute that SUCKS. Anyways below is the scoring layout and also more importantly a recap from the first three rounds of our first fantasy football mock draft for 2013.

Please take a minute and follow all of the participants including the great fantasy football minds +Bruno Boys Fantasy Football , +Sean Morris +Jim Day and make sure to leave a comment with your thoughts and feedback below.

Round 1 Beasthouse Recap... Ten Running Backs and two Wide Receivers were selected in the first round. That should reveal that this year's quarterbacks are incredibly deep. I do not see a bad pick in the bunch here. Looking back I may have grabbed Alfred Morris instead of Calvin but the 1,900+ yards last year will allow me to grab Calvin all day. I have a feeling that this is going to be the trend this year, Stock up on running backs early and then Value Based Drafting from there on out. Lets see how this one plays out with me going against the grain and grabbing a WR Calvin Johnson in the 1st.

13. Rob Gronkowski - TE - New England Patriots - Drafting Team @Pbonics3000
14. Matt Forte - RB - Chicago Bears - Drafting Team @LateRoundQB

21. Brandon Marshall - WR - Chicago Bears - Drafting Team @brunoBoysMorris
22. Demayius Thomas - WR - Denver Broncos - Drafting Team @subsfootball
23. Dez Bryant - WR - Dallas Cowboys - Drafting Team @C_Southwick
24. Percy Harvin - WR - Minnesota Vikings - Drafting Team @tidewaterjc

Round 2 Beasthouse Recap...  As usual round two spreads things out a little bit with four Running Backs, four Wide Receivers, two Tight Ends and one Quarter Back being selected. With the 17th overall pick I did not think twice to grab Aaron Rodgers. I understand that QB's are deep this year but I wanted to make sure that I got him and didn't take a risk on a running back like Mcfadden or Murray. If either Jimmy or Gronk would have fell to me I would have grabbed them but besides that I like my Rodgers pick here.

25. Randall Cobb - WR - Green Bay Packers - Drafting Team @tidewaterjc
26. Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jacksonville Jaguars - Drafting Team @C_Southwick
27. David Wilson - RB - New York Giants - Drafting Team @subsfootball
28. Chris Johnson- RB - Tennessee Titans - Drafting Team @brunoBoysMorris
29. Andre Johnson - WR - Houston Texans - Drafting Team @Fantasytaz
30. Drew Brees - QB - New Orleans Saints - Drafting Team @Ladd_Davies
31. Darren Sproles - RB - New Orleans Saints - Drafting Team @Nick3d
32. Ryan Matthews - RB - San Diego Chargers - Drafting Team @beasthousecrew
33. Lamar Miller - RB - Miami Dolphins - Drafting Team @FFRittle
34. Frank Gore - RB - San Francisco - Drafting Team @Zach_Law
35. Roddy White - WR - Atlanta Falcons - Drafting Team @LateRoundQB
36. Stephen Jackson - RB - St. Louis Rams - Drafting Team @Pbonics3000

Round 3 Beasthouse Recap... This round I was forced into selecting Ryan Matthews and am still disappointed about it. After having a solid 1-2 punch with Calvin and A Rodgers I was left with the bottom of the barrel running backs and was forced to react and grab the "1 TD" scoring Ryan Matthews as my #1 RB. Although I am not happy with this pick it truly reminds me why these mock drafts are so important. You must be prepared to react depending on how your draft is going which can only happen from experimenting while mock drafting. So in summary for Round Three we saw eight Running Backs, 3 Wide Receivers, and 1 Quarterback get selected.

After three rounds this is how the squads looked:

After three rounds of the first mock draft of 2013 the Fantasy Football Beasthouse was able to come away with a couple helpful insights completely based off of this draft alone (more insight to come as we continue to run these mocks... But for now check it out:

- This years top 20 running backs will go early and often. (22 of first 36 picks) compared to 15 of 36 in 2012 according to myfantasyleague.com ADP from 2012

- Two quarterbacks taken in the first 36 picks of this mock draft compared to 2012 with 5 QB's selected in the top 36 according to myfantasyleague.com ADP from 2012

- Wide Receivers value in 2013 will stay pretty similar to 2012 as far as ADP shows in the first three rounds with 9 WR's in this draft compared to 11 in 2012 according to myfantasyleague.com ADP from 2012
